Believe it or not, Ben and I have been together for almost 5 years now. :) It still amazes me how I’ve managed to make a long distance relationship work despite having two different worlds in two different cities! We may be cheating the LDR game a bit because we’re still in the same country with the same time zone but I can still say that our relationship’s pretty unconventional. It actually took us three years to get into a routine! Not complaining though as we still always look forward to seeing each other even if it’s just every two weeks and still try to make our dates as fun and special as our time and schedule permits :)
Ben has been a trooper when it comes to having a girlfriend who travels for work so I decided to treat him on my last visit to Cebu :) A special date for us doesn’t mean it’s supposed to be expensive and having discovered DEAL GROCER has allowed me to take him out on a spa date in one of the best spas we have in the country! One of the best things about Cebu is having a beautiful beach resort barely an hour away and Crimson has always been one of our favorites. Apart from the rooms they have, their Spanish restaurant run be an iconic chef, the hotel also houses an award winning spa. A year literally doesn’t go by without an award being handed to them! Massages are both our guilty pleasures and while we mostly enjoy a home serviced one, we don’t mind spending a bit more especially if it means a memorable date for us! :) We’ve never had a date in a spa so here’s our first ever experience!
AUM SPA is about 45 minutes away from the city center and I love that with that short car ride, we get to a place as relaxing as this. I brought with me my gift certificates where I 5o% discount one a 60 minute Aum Spa Treatment! :) I only paid 2,200 per person for a massage that’s usually 4,419 pesos if I don’t purchase it on the site. To be honest, I used to be so skeptical of discount sites, thinking that if I pay half the price, I might only get half the service. However, after hearing amazing things about Deal Grocer in particular and how easy it is to use, I immediately hit the check out button. With the voucher, you can choose from 4 treatments:
Reflex Foot Massage (Connecting): The feet, ankles, toes, and calves are massaged in strategic pressure points. It focuses on the Chinese meridian reflex points of the feet, where each stroke is believed to correspond to the body’s structure and organs. It aims to restore the energy flow to the entire body.
Aum Aroma Massage (Relaxing): Using long, rhythmic strokes with your choice between 3 signature blended aromatherapy massage oils (Tranquility, Rejuvenating or Uplifting), this massage promotes a deep sense of relaxation and comfort.
Thai Inspired Massage (Flexibility): A dry massage that uses only finger and palm pressure combined with stretching that releases tensions and helps you to move more freely.
Aroma Essential Facial (Hydrating): Using a combination of fruit enzyme peeling with pure essential oils and a vitamin-rich mask, this facial treatment that will help normalize the skin and restore its freshness and radiance.
We both chose the Aum Aroma Massage!
We got to the spa and were greeted by the receptionist. We were then handed a form to fill out and there we got to tell them our preferences when it comes to pressure and were asked some questions on our overall health just in case we had surgeries done or have an allergy to any kind of oil. After that was done, we got two glasses of cold tea to enjoy! :)
We were then escorted to two different rooms where we could change into our bathrobes and use the sauna, shower or steam as we please. I love that the voucher gave us the option to use their facilities! Although, we were both so excited for the treatment though that we immediately headed to where we were going to get our massages :) I had high expectations about this spa and I wanted to see if the therapist’s techniques with hard pressure was going to be consistent :) I’m sure anyone who loves to get hard massages like I do knows what I’m talking about!
The spa was clean, well maintained and a relaxing sanctuary right when you get in. I love how the whole place smelled too and I’m very particular when it comes to that! Every little detail was thought of and I love how it was lit as I don’t like spas that are too dark. Now, to the massage room! :)
There were two foot baths waiting for us and right before the massage, we got to choose what oil they were going to use on us! We did at around 12 pm so we both chose the uplifting variant as we still had a long day ahead of us :)
You see that Ben’s already off to la la land from the moment the foot bath started!
And now the verdict for the massage: Was it worth the 2,200 pesos?? YES! Especially because I know that they’re really worth double and I got to experience it for half the price! lol I know, that’s the stingy girl in me talking :P I could tell that the therapists were properly trained and the massage was so good that I dozed off maybe about 20 minutes in! I only woke up when she told me that I had to face front. Ben did too and I know he enjoyed the date I prepared for us that day because he was extra clingy! If it means I get a more lambing Ben than he already is, then I won’t mind using Deal Grocer again and again ;)
