Oh, Santorini. A big freaking can’t believe we’ve been to this place! It’s been almost a year since our big trip to Europe with Yosi Samra and up to this day, whenever we’re asked what our favorite countries are, this undoubtedly makes the top 5. Santorini is breathtaking, both literally and figuratuvely, with the amount of steps we climbed in our Yosi Samra flats just to get the perfect view was a cardio but every single minute doing it was just worth it. I would give anything in the world right now to experience it all over again!
We’ve been working with the biggest foldable flat company for 4 years now and we’ve gone with them to some of the most beautiful places on earth, all the countries we visited together were all even our bucketlists through the years that we’re very thankful for every opportunity they give us. They’re like our little genies because they make our travel dreams come true! First we went to Bali, long before it boomed on Instagram. Then our next year was in Hanoi, where we explored Halong Bay. Last year was our biggest trip yet – we went travelled to Paris, Budapest, Portugal and lastly, Greece!
Steve of Yosi Samra knew to save the best for last. It was all our first time and we had an overnight layover in Athens before flying off to Santorini. We’re all actually not morning people, we were all struggling to make our first flight out and our eyes were still half open as we made our way into our first villa. When we got there, I discovered that Santorini is actually made of 8 little towns. Our first stop was Imerovigli and the town’s small enough to explore in one day. Not much to do but try restaurants, walk around, take photos and enjoy the amazing view from the villa. Our hotel actually had the BEST breakfast spread EVER! It beats all the big hotel buffets I’ve tried over the years and while the food’s fresh and amazingly prepared, I think it’s the view that it comes with just made it the best. We spent our first two days just walking around in our Yosi Samra flats taking everything in :)
Our third day was spent exploring the famous Oia. It’s the oldest and most famous one among all 8. It’s the most picturesque too where every turn will literally make you go OOHHHH, OMMGGGG, WOW! and just never stop saying it. No house is the same and everything was just so perfect. You feel like every corner told a story, every turn will bring you to something new and someone new. The Greeks are very friendly, their hospitality reminded me so much of the comfort you feel whenever you go home to a grandmother who lived a quiet life in the province. Their smile’s like a big welcome hug and the food they served tasted homemade and with full of love. I don’t know if it was because we came at a low season but in almost all the restaurants we ate in, the owners would come by to ask how we were and even send a free dish for us to try. There was this one in particular who even let us do the famous tradition of breaking the plates! Yup, the ones you see in movies!
On our third day, we transferred to a villa in Thira which was an old sailor house that’s why it had the most amazing view of the ocean. The infinity pool was such a treat and even if it was 8 degrees out, we still donned our bikinis to enjoy it! :) Our 4th and last day on the island was spent just exploring Oia more as we felt like we didn’t get to take it in enough, I don’t think two weeks is even enough to.
It’s been 7 months since our trip to Santorini and I can still remember every minute of it, the feeling I felt that first time I got a glimpse of the ocean, how full my heart felt when I finally saw the famous three blue domes of Santorini and the happiness of crossing off the biggest item on my bucketlist then. To tell you honestly, ever since I was 16, I’ve always wished that the first time I would visit this place was with a significant other but after experiencing all these with Yosi Samra, I knew then and there that this is what was meant to happen. It was magical and I wouldn’t have it any other way :)
