One of the many lessons I learned from travelling is that when you travel far enough, you will find yourself spending a bit (or a lot) of money in the process! Haha! Funny but it’s true. When one travels, it’s inevitable to spend. Unless you’re very creative!
This is the reason why Verniece and I try to find ways to save where we can as much possible. Two of which are on tickets and hotels. We don’t sacrifice comfort and cleanliness when it comes to choosing how we fly and where we stay but that’s where travel sales come in handy! :) I’m usually on the lookout for the next deal online but when I got invited to The Great BDO Travel Sale a few weeks ago, I saved all my credit card limit for the month of January! lol I just knew that I’d find a special price for a ticket to one of the places I’vebeen dying to visit this year :)
The Manila leg was held in SM Aura’s SMX and I was so happy about the location because it was so near me!
I had an idea of how these things go and the Confessions of a Shopholic movie came to mind. I imagined that I had to physically fight with people over the cheapest deals and use 10 credit cards to pay for all of them! lol Thankfully, everything went smoothly. I immediately went to SkyJet’s booth because I wanted to score a cheap ticket to Siargao. I’ve been passing through Cebu on the 3 times I went so I wanted to try taking a direct flight from Manila this year. It can be quite pricey to buy a ticket online that’s why it was on top of my list of booths to visit. I got to score 4 tickets priced at 10,500 pesos each! My sister took that routetwice already and she had to pay for around 16,000 plus each time. Imagine almost 6,000 pesos in savings! not bad right?
My next booth was Qatar Airways. I’ve taken the business class of this airline twice and I just died and went
to airplane heaven. I was hoping I could score a good price for a ticket to South Africa but unfortunately, the
dates Ben and I were looking at weren’t available anymore. I spent a total of 3 hours just roaming around
the event and I didn’t even notice time pass by! There were really a lot of exciting travel deals with great
prices. And I got to book tickets to Siargao! :)
So, to all BDO Rewards, Credit and Debit Cardholders, if you missed the Manila and Davao run of The Great BDO Travel Sale, you still have a chance to book and buy your tickets online or in any of the provincial events. Here’s the remaining schedule:
(1) January 26 to 28, 2018 at SM City Cebu Northwing Atrium
(2) February 2 to 4, 2018 at SM City Iloilo
See you there? I’ll definitely be on the watch so I can score the best rates on my next trip!
Remember, travel period is until December 2018! :)
