Going to at least one road trip during the summer is a must no matter how busy one is. It can be with your family, your group of friends, your special someone or even with your work mates, anyone as long as you get the chance to get out of the city for a weekend to recharge and rejuvenate both your mind and body before going back to the city life. The Philippines is a beautiful country and what makes it so amazing is that just by driving 3 hours up north, you can visit a place as breath taking as Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. We’ve heard about it for years but it was only just last April that we finally got to visit it.
We expected a mini Intramuros yet we were surprised to find a little paradise in Bataan where you get a taste of the rich history the Philippines has :) In there, you get the beach, traditional Filipino houses that are collected from all over the country, yummy Filipino food, a chance to ride a kalesa and experience amazing service from people who don traditional costumes too! I swear, it’s like you rode a time machine and was brought back to another era :) The place is very picturesque so don’t forget to bring a camera and a few outfits to compliment the place! You will NEVER run out of backdrops here ;) Here are all the details you need to visit the place:
How To Get There: It is approximately 3-3.5 hours away from Makati and you can do this by taking the NLEX. If you’re driving, you can just type it on waze and it will bring you there. If you’re commuting, their website has intrusions on how to easily get there!
It’s a resort so you can sleep here! We were given a room good for 2 and staying overnight here gives you the full experience of the place :) While the room is not your usual modern hotel that we’re used to, it’s nice to experience at least once! Room rates here.
The food’s good! They offer set meals for groups but you can also order Ala Carte in the different restaurants they have on site :) They have a total of 5 scattered around the area and that can cater to every craving you have!
There’s more to it than taking pictures of pretty traditional houses. I honestly thought at first that all you can do is take photos here. I was surprised to find out that there’s a beach, a heritage tour I can take (AM and PM schedules are available), a riverboat cruise that will take me around the place using the Umagol River, a kalesa ride for Verns to experience and even an afternoon spent a yacht! More details here.
However, just a reminder, it’s very VERY hot here so dress appropriately! Vern and I hate the sun so much but the beauty of this place made it so worth it :) Can’t wait to go back soon!
