A great vacation should start by the time you get to the airport. With the hassle of delays, the long lines in the immigration and other problems we’ll encounter we can’t control, spending extra little on things we can will be worth it. Starting with booking with a great airline :) I’m all for supporting local industries and products but when it costs you hours from your vacation, why bother right?
When we went to Hong Kong a few days ago for a weekend in Disneyland, we flew with Cathay Pacific for the very first time. Having been consecutively voted in the top 5 list of airlines by Skytrax for years now, we had very high expectations. I was imaging the best customer service there is! However, what we got was more than what we had in mind. We didn’t now that inside that airport we all hate is a little haven that Cathay Pacific built for their customers to enjoy, the economy plane seats were bigger than usual, we were stuffed with good food both in the lounge and during the flight and we had televisions to enjoy even if it was just a short haul flight :)
Their service started right as we checked in for our flight. Smiling attendants were waiting for us and were happy to help us with our requests :)
Now, let’s talk more about the lounge shall we? Who knew that this beautifully designed place is tucked away in NAIA 3? It the Instagrammable restaurant of our dreams only better because there’s an amazing selection of hot food that changes during breakfast, lunch and dinner :) Our favourite part was the unlimited bowls of dim sum that we can get. They have a bar too that serves coffee, tea, cold and hot drinks and their signature juice that’s mixed perfectly for a tiring flight ahead.
With the food coma we experienced in the lounge plus the comfortable seats in the plane, sad to say that Verniece and I don’t have any pictures of our inflight experience. This is what we can say though, the seats are bigger than your usual economy sized ones, there’s a screen that has the latest movies and episodes of your favourite TV shows (I got to watch Passengers during this flight) and restrooms that provide toiletries like toothbrush, toner and a hydrating spray :)
Any Cathay Pacific flight that has a stop over will bring you to Hong Kong for a few hours. If you’re lucky enough to have the time to spare in the airport before your next one, the airline has built 5 lounges all around. There are the following: The Bridge, The Cabin, The Pier, The Arrival and the one we chose, The Wing. Every lounge has a shower, a noodle bar, a bar, a resting area, fast internet all around and of course unlimited food and drinks :) The experience makes you feel like you’ve just checked in a 5 star hotel! Definitely one that will be hard to beat on our next few layovers.
Till our next Cathay Pacific experience. I think it will be a long haul one next ;)
