After an almost 10 day hiatus from writing, I am back in Manila and ready to work all over again! After blogging for almost a month straight, I noticed that what I would write here and the words I was using was getting so repetitive that I knew a short break was in order so my mind will be refreshed :) That week spent in Japan with my family was definitely what I needed!
Just a week before Tokyo, Verniece and I visited one of our favourite places in the Philippines – Discovery Shores Boracay. Note that it’s not just Boracay alone but the hotel was mentioned before it. It has been said countless times here that we are not big fans of the beach yet this TDLCI property in Caticlan makes it worth the trip :) It’s our second time here and our experience only got better. Again, we were given one of the best features the rooms here have, our very own jacuzzi to go along with the most beautiful view to catch one of the most gorgeous sunsets in the world.
Almost all hotels in Boracay gives you unobstructed access to the same famous sunrise and sunset but what makes this place a favourite is the impeccable service it never fails to give to anyone :) One that I’m sure not all hotels here have. As you check in, you are greeted by a personalized arrangement that makes you feel like you just came home and genuine smiles that you will see from every single staff you pass anywhere in the property. They even memorise everyone’s names! Though I feel like they get so confused with us they just both called us Vern! lol
Every room here comes with a foot scrub and food massage as you arrive, whether you’re staying at a villa or not :)
Bathrooms are one of, or THE most crucial detail that make a hotel great and even after almost a decade on the island, the rooms still look so new :)
Another reason why we love going back here is their FOOD! Our stomachs are always so happy whenever we visit :) A new discovery for me was their smoothie menu! No sugar added but still so yummy.
We got to the hotel past lunch already so we had a very late brunch at Sands Restaurant. We got the dishes we missed the most – nachos, their famous kinilaw, the seafood tower and the ever so soft salpicao! :)
Whenever we’re by the beach, we wake up extra early for breakfast and the chance to enjoy the empty beach :) The hotel’s bacon and freshly baked bread are always what I look forward to at Sands Restaurant‘s buffet!
After just lounging by the water, we got another round of smoothies for both of us! :) Then we just waited for dinner as we watched the sun set :) Discovery Shores arranged a very beautiful dinner for us at their fine dining restaurant called Indigo. I was even joking Verniece if she was going to propose! lol It was that romantic! haha :) The weather was perfect too!
While we were there, there was a silver wedding anniversary party happening and we even got to watch the renewal of vows from afar! :) Our parents are celebrating theirs in a few days so that tugged a few heartstrings :)
Boracay, even on February, can still have a lot of tourists and what makes Discovery Shores so unique from the rest of the hotels on station 1 is the privacy you have. Even if the next hotel is just a few steps away, you will not be bothered by the noise or passer-bys.
An aeriel view of the whole property.
Coming back to this hotel is something we always look forward to! We were actually supposed to come with our family this time but because of the work and school schedule my dad and brother had, we just came by ourselves. Hopefully next time our family can experience what we always do here and finally find out for themselves why we love this place so much :) Till then!
If you’ve been here before and loved the place as much as we did, vote for Discovery Shores Boracay at the Travel + Leisure World’s Best. Go to www.TLWorldsBest.com/vote to vote! :) Thank you again, Discovery Shores!
