London, United Kingdom
My first London Fashion Week experience will always be a memorable one. A story I will proudly tell my grandchildren when I’m on a rocking chair while showing them all my photos from the trip on my Iphone50plusX :P When I got the call from MakeUpPlus that they’ll be sending me to London for a few days to attend a few shows and check out the London Social House, I dropped everything I had scheduled and packed my bags. In fact, it was so last minute that I barely had time to prep outfits which is crucial, it being one of the biggest fashion events in the world! I was literally panicking days before! To tell you honestly, I don’t usually join giveaways only because I want every opportunity to be handed to me for the reason that I’ve worked hard for it and a brand is after my quality of work. Not because I got the most likes or I pushed for it by making people like my photo. However, this project is one that just made me heart skip a beat when I first heard of it. I’ve always trusted my instinct and it told me that this is something good for me. The first ever contest I joined was 7 years ago and it was for the Bench x Coke fashion show in Trinoma. I remember messaging everyone I knew to vote for me and luckily for me, my begging worked and I got to walk the runway with David Guison. That for me was a stepping stone for bigger things. With that project, I got to work with THE Ben Chan and alot of brands under his belt. I believe that was one of the events that exposed me to more people and got me a very small spot in the fashion blogging industry :) I’ve always been thankful of the Suyuen group for opening so much doors for me. 7 years later, I joined another one but I did not campaign for this. I just edited a photo of me on the MakeUpPlus application, posted it on Instagram, prayed for it and left it to God to decide if this opportunity was really meant for me.
And it was. This LFW experience made me meet people and realize alot of things on the 5 days I spent alone in London. I realized that the world is very big and the Philippines is such a small country. Even our blogging world is so young and we still have so much to learn. I realized that while I still have so much to achieve in the Philippines, I also have to think on a bigger scale – a more global scale. It made me want to work harder to achieve so much more. It made me appreciate of what I have as well and that I thank MakeUpPlus for giving me that 5 days :) I had alot of free time actually and I just had one full day with the team. I guess that’s why I had alot of leeway to think! lol
8 am. I had an 10:30 am call time so I made sure to wake up early so I can take a few photos. It was my second day to take photos with my tripod but after all the practice on my first day and discovered the timer setting on my app, I knew I’d have an easier time than my first :) I went to King’s Cross Station where the famous St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is located to make it my backdrop for outfit photos :) Little did I know, I was in a for a treat from the security. I didn’t know they were very anal about taking photos of the hotel with a tripod so I had to constantly hide from them just get a few shots! hahaha! It took me almost an hour to take merely 28 photos. That’s how strict they were! The securtiy just kept following me around! hahaha :)
9:48 am. I finally get to Greek Street in SoHo, London where the London Social House in located :) It’s this 5 story events place where Meitu set up their little haven for editors, models, bloggers and influencers attending the shows to refresh and meet people :)
10:05. I met up with Melissa who was the contact given to me by Meitu Philippines and she gave me alittle tour. This above is the Beauty Plus lounge where coffee, juices, cocktails and really really good Bahn Mi is servied!
10:14 am. My favorite part of the Social House was the Make Up Plus Lounge because in here, you can get your hair and make up done by Nyx Cosmetics and Revlon. You can change your look as much as you want or even come in for H&M in the morning! :) How amazing is that?! I ofcourse got my hair done!
10:48 am. The hairstylist blowdried my hair and made this little updo. I just had to go down and take a photo with the London Social House behind me :)
11:05 am. After mingling a bit, I saw that I had more time before the Beauty Panel given by very famous influencers from the United States so I had my make up retouched! :)
12 pm. They brought in Teala Dunn, Camden Scott and Liane V and I learned so much from them!
1:30 pm. After a little snack, we were brought to the Designers Floor to personally meet the designers and get a little sneakpeak of their pieces. Here is my most memorable one:
Aren’t his hats amazing?!
2:46 pm. After taking a million photos in the showroom and trying on a gazillion pieces, we went back to the London Social House to get some coffee and our make up redone for the cocktail hour and the show we were scheduled to see :)
4 pm. Cocktail hour!
Met more bloggers chosen by Meitu to come from Japan and Indonesia :)
6 pm. I only got to watch one show but still so thankful for the chance to. We were seated third row and I mean when will I ever get this opportunity again right?! I don’t even remember the name of the designer but the goosebumps I got just being in an LFW show will always stick with me :)
8 pm. Ended my day by ubering back to my hotel and calling it a night! What a day! :)
