Being in a long distance relationship gets difficult after awhile. I never knew I would say this especially when we’ve been already together for 2 years and 7 months now but it gets hard when the two people in it start to travel to two different places with two different timezones. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m very thankful for all the opportunities and I love my job but its been taking a toll on my personal relationships and I have to go the extra mile to keep it happy ones. After traveling non stop for the past few weeks, I literally had to go the extra mile and spend 24 hours in Taipei just to see Ben. He’s also been constantly traveling for work and this time for a trade show in Taiwan. We both checked our schedules and saw that if I don’t fly there, the total time we won’t be seeing each other will be a month and a half. The longest we’ll ever experience! So after just spending 18 hours in the Philippines (from New York!) just in time for my baby brother’s birthday party, I once again packed my bags, headed for the airport and took a 2 hour flight to Taipei.
We both had very high hopes for this city as everyone we know who has travelled here loved the place. I wanted to spend more quality time with Ben exploring the city and less time carrying my SLR around so I decided to just bring my new Huawei P9 phone with me. I recently just purchased it mainly for it’s built in Leica camera. I read online reviews and found out that with it’s size, the camera’s pretty impressive and may be the best camera phone in the market today! I wanted to test this for myself and took all my Taiwan photos just with it. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, my first ever travel diary with photos just taken with a phone!

Don’t you loooooooooovee how sharp the photos turned out? And the colors are so vivid!!! Taipei is colourful. In fact, it reminded me of Japan + Hong Kong combined and I love how Huawei P9’s camera brought out all the little details and colors. What impressed me so much was how I can adjust it’s ISO and some settings that I can only do with my DSLR. I honestly never knew that a camera phone can have the same features! Don’t get scared though as it’s still technology noob friendly :)
Even with adjustable settings, it’s still a point and shoot that you can easily capture a moment even when crossing the street!
Taking skyline photos from the streets with an DSLR can be challenging especially when you’re using a 35mm or 50mm lens like me. It’s just impossible to get the whole thing in a shot! However, Huawei’s lens made it possible for me to capture a high quality photo of the Taipei 101 :) I even got to take my outfit photos with it!

So I suggest if you’re looking for a camera to bring with you when you travel or even just on an adventure around the city or your mini ones on daily basis, get yourself a Huawei p9 phone. Not only can you get a high quality camera but a dual sim phone that’s perfect for both work + play :)
To tell you honestly, Taipei as a city did not impress as much. The food was great though but because I only had time to go around the centre and did not get the chance to see the outskirts, it seemed like Japan and Hong Kong but not quite there yet. It was just bits and parts but I felt like there was something missing. Still happy I got to cross this out of my list though and it was made special with Ben around! Just a few more South East Asian countries to go! :)
