I know you’ve been enjoying Vern’s New York posts so much but let me put them on pause for a minute and remind you of the amazing trip we had to Club Paradise Palawan just days before her departure :) Visiting Coron was a local destination dream come true for Vern and I and picking just 6 things to look forward to was quite hard for us since when a Discovery Group property is in the picture, there’s always a million things and more to love :) 4 days, 3 nights was just not enough!
1. Coron is of course, number 1 and should be enough reason for you to visit Club Paradise. Club Paradise is its own little island but it’s sand, water and sky is worth the trip! Palawan is voted the best island in the whole world and it’s such a waste if you don’t see it with your own two eyes. It’s a bit expensive to go here but there really is no other that beats it :)
2. I’ve said this again and again and again but any Discovery Property‘s number 1 asset is it’s people and staff’s service. You just can’t compare it anywhere else in the country! You feel it from the moment you land in Coron (with it’s complimentary airport shuttle to and from the island), to the song they sing to you when your speed boat docks, to complete room amenities and to the personal touches they put and do for every guest. This for makes it the best island resort in Coron :)
3. A chance to make your tummy happy with the island’s seafood diet. The food is is good that you will start a see food, eat all food diet! I asked if Palawan has it’s own special delicacy but they have none in particular so I can recommend for you to order anything Filipino on the menu. Discovery just acquired the property so the other dishes may still be after the old owner’s but Ocean Restaurant just may be the restaurant in Coron to date. Also, if you’re celebrating anything special, just make a request to the front desk to arrange a lunch or dinner by the beach and they’ll be happy to do it for you! :)
4. The sunset cruise. The number 4 actually came as a surprise to us as we didn’t really look expect for this part of the itinerary but please, when you do visit Club Paradise, avail of this and you will not regret it! A speed boat will take you around the island and to islands near it just a little over an hour before sunset to give you a tour and it will stop in the middle of the ocean to watch the sun kiss the ocean. It’s one of the most serene and magical experiences I’ve had on the beach and I hope you get to see it for yourself too :)
The Glow spa is quite cheap considering that most hotel spas are expensive so give their massages a try, too! :) I did a body scrub to go with mine and I felt so rejuvenated after :)
5. The stars above the island. I may sound like such a city girl but I’ve never seen the stars so close. Vern and I woke up at 4 am to supposedly hike and watch the sunrise but once we stepped out of our room and saw just how beautiful the sky was, we had to cancel that and just lay on the lounge chairs and be in awe of what was above us. It was so close that it honestly felt like we could reach for them. Now we know why couples do this! Living in Manila just makes this quite impossible for us but star gazing should be part of your itinerary when you plan your stay :)
6. The resident school of fishes, turtles and corals that live and surrounds the island. To tell you honestly, Vern and I like modern hotels. We’re not big fans of nipa huts and roughing it out but what makes this place so magical is what lies beneath the island. I am not exaggerating but we swam for less than a minute and we already saw colorful corals, fishes the size of Vern’s feet (she’s a 9) and turtles. We were actually lucky because the turtles are quite shy but the three times we snorkelled, we saw one on each time!! :) We got so addicted to snorkelling that we would do it just right before breakfast every morning :) This for me is why EVERY ONE should visit the island. We’ll even make sure to be back very soon with our family so we can show them :)
Pictures really don’t do justice to the beauty of Club Paradise :) We can’t wait to go back when Discovery waves it’s magic wand on it and updates everything!! :) Till the next! :)
