If you follow my sister and I on our social media accounts, you would have a little idea on what happened to our baby brother, Verns. It was an unfortunate accident that could’ve been prevented and it’s something we all wish he didn’t have to experience at such a young age. My family is very hands on with him and it was only recently when he turned 2, that my mom actually trusted a nanny to look after him. Before that, we were all his personal nannies! One night last week, after Verniece and I brought Verns outside to play, we decided to do a little bit of work and left him with his yaya. Things happened so fast, that a few minutes later, we just heard him wailing from upstairs and fast forward to today, here he is with a full body cast :( It was only through our other helper that we found out that his yaya left him on his own in my parents’ room and she stayed outside to tinkle with her cellphone.
The things that technology does to us. Personally, I think it’s more of a blessing than a curse because it’s made our lives so much easier especially for me, who’s career started and runs online. However, it’s taken over our lives that admit or not, we can literally look at screens the whole day. What happened to Baby Verns made me realize that we should take a break from it once in awhile and actually pay attention to the people around us. I blame myself for still choosing to be on my phone and laptop after working in front of it already from 12-5 when 7-12 could’ve been spent on teaching Verns something new. I blame the nanny too for choosing to look at her phone than look after him. Choosing to spend time with our gadgets the whole day is something we do so unconsciously and hopefully after reading this, you will consciously choose to spend more time with your family and friends particularly this holiday season! :) However, one of the times you do choose to spend with your phone and laptop, hope you can still read the blog! hihi Hope you have a good one! It’s only 7 days till Christmas! :)
