Makati City, Philippines
Staycations recently became a thing ever since Instgram’s boom here in the Philippines and Verniece and I are constantly on the search for the best one in every city. We’ve become such travel addicts that we love discovering new places every single day that will make us feel like we’re not home. We found the place in Makati in Discovery Primea. Staycations can be quite tricky especially when your house is just 20 minutes away. My parents made sure to pattern our house’s interiors to a hotel’s so our bar is pretty far up there, in our standards at least :) So don’t think our house is a palace! haha!
Discovery Primea is quite unique and you’ll recognize it as the tall yellow building along Ayala Avenue. It’s right in front of Glorietta so it’s not hard to miss and they made sure to put it that way :) This is our second Discovery property and Suites’ stay was so memorable that we were so excited for this one :)
Our welcome was very personal and I made sure to do my research after our first stay since I was really curious whether they we were really like that with everyone or we got special treatment just because we were bloggers. After a research, I found out that it’s just the same for everyone. The personal touches are something every single guest experiences and this just made me love the company more :) A friend of mine went to Discovery Shores in Boracay last summer and even with the busyness of LaBoracay, the handling was just the same :)
We first got a business suite but when they found out Vernon was joining us, they transferred us to the biggest room in the hotel :) I expected a photo of Verniece and I somewhere but I didn’t expect it on every corner! They really do make a difference because it makes you feel like you’re home and that little space is yours even just for a few days :) They had personalised cupcakes too!
Beds are quite important for me and Discovery’s never fails.
There’s a settling in service where they put your things on the closet for you. How convenient is that?
We spent the afternoon enjoying the room but had dinner in Restaurant Tapenade (I’ll blog about that separately) and we came back to our room all ready for bed. They even had some treats and dvds ready for us to binge on! :)
We woke up to the doorbell of freshly cooked three ways cooked bacon made especially by Chef Luis Chikiamco, the head chef of the hotel. What a way to wake up to! Hello breakfast in our suite <3 We then hit the gym and boy, everything was complete! The trainer was very helpful too and I love that they had a studio for me to use as well since I rarely do cardio :) I did yoga while Verniece and Vernon used the machines :)
We went back to our room and found Chef there preparing lunch for us. I was so shy!!! I can’t believe they went out of their way to that for us. He gave us a little cooking lesson too. He opened Discovery Suites and improved their menu and made Tapenade’s so I wasn’t surprised why we liked it so much. He specialises in French cuisine and I love that he had touches of that in every meal! :)
Okay, here’s the best part of the hotel and I’m sure I don’t need anymore words for it. I honestly never thought anyone can make this skyline look good :P
We ended our second day with being the first ever to try out Terazi Spa and wow, I was in bliss! We were asked to choose from three oils and it was just the most relaxing thing in the world! I used to not believe in paying so much for them but when you’ve tried one and the other, you’ll really see the difference :) You can really tell the therapists were skilled and trained very well. They ask you to fill up this form before and the question mattered because they paid attention to every preference of mine and it was all met till my massage ended :) The place is quite small but it gave us more privacy.
We went back to our room and found wine and cheese waiting for us. We brought it down and chilled by the pool. Look at the view :)
A big thank you to Discovery Primea for having us! I can’t wait to blog more about the place :)
