Finally sharing with you pictures from our Singapore trip!!! :) I can’t wait to tell you how the last four days went for my sister and I. This trip was VERY last minute and when I say last minute, I mean almost literally! We got a call friday morning about a trip to Singapore and we honestly thought that Martha from Bridges PR was kidding but she wasn’t because around 10 pm later that day, my tickets were in my email and I was flying to Singapore 10 am the next morning. I told you almost literally! I’m not complaining though!!! :D It was surreal that something like that was happening to us! Only things like these happen in movies!! HAHA!
So what was this Singapore trip about exactly you may ask? It was for the Asia Fashion Exchange – It’s like our local fashion week but they have four pillars – the Audi Fashion Festival where this is what happens here locally with a line up emerging and big designers showing their latest pieces on the runway. I didn’t get to catch her but Carolina Herrera and her daughter Carolina Herrera Jr. opened the event. Next up is the Blueprint Tradeshow and Emporium where I’ll be explaining what it is below, the Audi Star Creation is a regional fashion design competition that brings aspiring designers from around Asia to Singapore to “battle” it out on the runway. Lastly, there is the Asia Fashion Summit where it’s a conference on the business of fashion where the best in the industry give talks on trends, adress sector challenges and discuss the industry’s best practices.
And after the peaceful 3 and a half flight to Singapore from Manila using Singapore Airlines, another surprise welcomed us…
Yup, that’s Christian Grey’s car (this time not literally guys! Just the model of the car! haha), the official VIP service of the Asia Fashion Exchange. I’ve only seen cars like these being ridden by international bloggers like Ciara of The Blonde Salad and Aimee of Song of Style so I was crazy ecstatic that it was happening to us as well! :) :) Ahh so blessed!
We didn’t get to reach the after lunch show anymore so we headed to Blueprint, a trade show where local or emerging designers sell and show off their designs to buyers, to fashion enthusiasts and on the last two days, the public as well. The room was overflowing with creativity! From bags to clothes to accessories and even gifts! :) Everything was so unique and there were some designers who were in their early twenties! I scored a few items and I shall wear them in here soon :)
We then headed to have dinner at No Signboard Seafood restaurant where I got to eat my favorite local dishes like the cereal prawns and spicy crab. I even got to taste a baby octopus for the first time! :) My sister and I headed out to skip dessert and opted to take touristy pictures with the famous Marina Bay Sands as our background.
Right after dinner, we headed to the Fashion by the Bay tent (the tent was located near the Singapore Flyer) and I was amazed. I’ve only experienced Fashion Week locally and as much as I am proud of our PFW, this was different. Different in every sense – from the drinks, to the food, to the people, their fashion sense, the lights, the music, the production – everything! Although, I will forever be proud of our local designers because I personally believe the ones we have are at par with the ones they have there :)
Like I said, everything was beautiful. I don’t usually people watch outside DLSU but I couldn’t help myself. The last time I went to Singapore, I wasn’t very much impressed with the street style of the locals but boy did this event prove me wrong. I guess I went to the wrong places? Everyone was dressed impeccably and it was very much refreshing from the ones I see here in Manila :) I was getting inspiration everywhere! We had three shows to watch that night but I had to skip the last one since I was having a migrane from too much cereal prawns and spicy crab :P haha!
My favorite was definitely Ashley Isham’s collection. It was fitting for a normal woman walking a busy street on a busy day. The clothes were wearable both for workwear, casual wear and even the gowns were divine though I have to say the visor might be harder to use! haha! The rest of the Philippine team got to catch Peter Pilotto and said his collection was amazing :) I shall just link you pictures next time so you could see :)
I had to sleep in early and rest for AFX day 2. Hope you’ll be excited for the next post! :)
*All the pictures from day 1 to 3 are taken using a #SMARTIPHONE5 :)
